Whatev.I was made aware of a blog via this post. A pictoral essay addressing the issue of breastfeeding as being immodest. Since determining something as modest or immodest rests largely within the culture of that thing, there seems to be wide latitude as to what one can consider modest. Did I mention modest enough in this post? Well this one addresses the issue much more succinctly.Polskahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14682180445156664790noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23660258.post-19016070031506038002010-02-24T17:53:00.001-05:002010-02-24T17:54:38.207-05:00"Follower" questionFor blogs! This year Tub of Love is a little older, so I'm making a greater effort to fast and abstain. I'm definitely out of practice. Ash Wednesday was hard! Thursday saw a hearty, healthy breakfast to make up for the lack of calories the day before.

The fast was to good effect though, showing me how attached I am to my creature comforts. There is definitely room to become less attached to worldly things so that I may seek to follow the ways of the Lord. I'm sure to succeed at times and falter at others, but overall it will be a good spiritual workout.

So I say, Bring it Lent. It's an exciting birthday because she's now old enough and aware enough to understand what a birthday involves. As she explained to her Daddy last night, "It's Advent. My birthday is coming. My birthday. I am excited."

Did I mention that she's speaking in complete sentences now and it's a pleasant surprise?

Anyway, we went to get party supplies for her family birthday party. I thought she would choose a theme like My Little Pony or Dora or something. Instead she liked the idea of so many possibilites but she didn't want to commit. Now to update you with some going-ons of the past few months.

Big kids have started gong to preschool a few mornings each week. They come home with all sorts of crafts and I send in all sorts of checks for fundraising efforts. Annie is learning about Native Americans, corn, a variety of animals, and crafting techniques. I'm sure Elizabeth is also learning things, but she usually only reports that she played with her teachers.

Baby is nearly 8 months old. To date she sits, crawls, pulls up, attempts to balance--which she does best when reaching for the phone or remote control--, has taken steps when holding on to something, signs "hello" and "so big", prefers to feed herself, yet gets most of her nourishment from nursing. She still cosleeps, at times likes or endures being worn, and enjoys getting to be around her sisters and daddy. She is a social baby, but is starting to get a good dose of separation anxiety. Might be an interesting challenge as the holidays and lots of family time approaches. She is a hefty 20lb +. Her first year is passing so, so quickly.

As for me, I parent, houseclean, avoid housecleaning, and am now trying to get tasks done in preparation for the holiday season.

Coming up--Elizabeth turns three.Polskahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14682180445156664790noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23660258.post-25878059830390430882009-10-27T16:18:00.002-04:002009-10-27T16:22:00.697-04:00Introducing A Local Babywearing BlogI belong to the babywearing group that operates in the local area. I felt the sharp edge last night at bedtime, when she grabbed my hand and started chomping. The new tooth cutting seemed to trouble her & keep her from falling asleep.

In other developmental news, she rolls from back to tummy and from tummy to back. Her sisters delight her and provoke deep belly laughts. She will post, and use her legs to push herself forward. This often results in her face mashing into the carpet rather than any kind of scooting forward, but she's working on it. She is also working on strengthening her back muscles to sit unassisted, but she still needs some assistance as yet.

These first four and half months have flown by.Polskahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14682180445156664790noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23660258.post-13826242423234014232009-08-09T00:58:00.002-04:002009-08-09T01:02:54.047-04:00Potty Time!Elizabeth is not learning to use the potty. For several months now, she would play at going potty. She would climb up on the toilet, wait, say "all done", then make unholy messes by stuffing as much toilet paper as she could into the commode.

I wondered aloud to Hubs when would Elizabeth start using the potty?

He had a hunch that one day, when no one was watching, she'd secretly slip away to the bathroom and sort it all out.

He was right. Elizabeth did just that.

She's been having success using the bathroom, wearing her Big Girl Princess Panties, and she's even spent an entire day dry. She's also creating opportunities to strip buck naked. She's been streaking in the library. I thought most girls waited until sorority rush to do something like that.Polskahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14682180445156664790noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23660258.post-54864233373292139722009-08-07T01:03:00.002-04:002009-08-09T01:12:07.424-04:00Happy Birthday Soldier

My brother is deployed on his third tour of duty to Iraq. He's sleeping in a ten man tent with little internet access, so I doubt he's ever going to see this, but I wish him a happy birthday just the same. Um, get past the first 30 seconds then it's entertaining.Polskahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14682180445156664790noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23660258.post-61432636909939226652009-08-04T17:16:00.002-04:002009-08-04T17:30:45.220-04:00Added Element! As I've told you before, I'm little more than a monkey banging on a keyboard. Coding, features, and all that computer stuff that makes a blog cool is new to me. So the first step in updating my blog and making it cool was adding a label cloud.

Um, I totally found a tutorial online and followed the directions. Worked for me.

P.S. This does mean that I need to go into the archive and update posts with labels.Polskahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14682180445156664790noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23660258.post-9198834526896853532009-07-06T19:03:00.002-04:002009-07-06T19:05:24.397-04:00I'm going to try to read up on blogging in my spare time, but in the meantime, I figured I'd keep posting so at least there was new content while I figured out features.

So, is it just me, or does 'spare time' sound like an oxymoron?Polskahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14682180445156664790noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23660258.post-47212464729949190512009-06-30T11:50:00.003-04:002009-06-30T12:08:40.733-04:00Making the blog better? So I'm faced with a decision.

Here's a decision I already made. I decided after looking at a few other blogs, that I liked some of their features and wanted them on this blog. Since I'm a non-techical person (aka a monkey typing at a keyboard) I thought I might be able to search google for the content and features I wanted. The wealth of information is staggering. First off, in order to play the game, I needed to learn the lingo. Apparently one of the things I liked was a 'tag cloud.' I didn't even know that starting out. As I searched and read, then searched and read some more, the more I learned that there is a lot of information out there on how ot make a blog better. There is vast room for improvement on this blog.

So the decision I'm faced with is do I want to put in the time to spiff this up? Or do I keep it as is, with my sister and brother in law checking in occassionally. My husband says he reads it too, but so far, I can't tell. Hm, it sounds like a bit of a time committment, but possibly also a new hobby.Polskahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14682180445156664790noreply@blogger.com5
